'Perplexion'- my thoughts.

Our film illustrates the pressurizing and mentally taxing life of the main character, a student who is dealing with academic pressure, which is, from a conventional perspective not given enough relevance or held as an important upturning factor that can heavily alter a students life both in the short and long term. Every student comes up with a personalized and unique mechanism of counter-balancing the stress faced academically. A lot of times this is a subconscious choice, and is not necessarily the most efficient outcome for the situation. A very common mechanism as such is procrastination. When dealing with a large number of tasks or assignments, it is relatively easy for students to get overwhelmed which would lead them to leave the task for a later time, in order to cope with the immense workload. Procrastination is a rather habitual decision in students, which can eventually build up leading to a larger workload, less time and more stress for students.

TOPSY TURVY WORLD: assignment

Image
This was a photography assignment for my media studies class, where the topic was 'topsy turvy world' and students were divided in groups of four for this practical assignment. Our idea was to take a reflection photo, and to place more relative contrast and emphasis on the reflection, rather than the photo and the backdrop, we achieved this by setting a black and white monochromatic tone tothe image, and editting a reflection with colours in front of it. This way we can imply our interpretation of the theme 'topsy turvy world', where instead of what is real (person) and what isn't (reflection), the roles here are switched, hence displaying a topsy turvy world.

Shoot one- worli koliwada

Image
Our first shoot, a learning lesson  Our location was chosen to be worli koliwada, a Famous tourist spot and a local fishing area for fisherman to fish all day. The Worli Koliwada facelift is intended to blend seamlessly with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the planned coastal road and Worli Fort to create a unique aesthetic view to attract tourists. Theme We were trying to show a day in the life of a hardworking fisherman and get their perspective on how things are for them, hardships faced by them, and what their life is like. Location We chose this particular location, as it perfectly portrayed the theme we were trying to capture the side of Mumbai, that is not often displayed or given exposure by media. This location was visually perfect for our documentary, from a cinematic point of view and even an aesthetical point of view. Plan My teammate Meit kanal and I went for a recce a week before our actual shoot. This was when we decided the location, shots and framing compositions for ou...

Even though we had eveything planned and decided , or so we thought, on the day of shoot for the first shoot at worli koliwada, my teammate Meit kanal and I reported at the location at 4:30 in the morning as we decided with the fisherman who agreed to voice our documentary, however to our surprise, on the day of the shoot he was nowhere to be seen and didn't even pick up our calls. Since our original plan failed now, and we were at the location anyway, we decided to take photos instead of go back and waste our efforts. Here are some photos from our exploratory travel on that day: Travelling:
