About me and my blog

Image
My name is Anubhav Sahu, and I am a self-proclaimed media enthusiast  as well as an artist and aspire to pursue art and design(graphic design) as a career. Media studies is another step I take toward this dream of mine and will be a beneficial set of knowledge to add to my skillset for a better future in design. I love to work on projects where I can exhibit my creativity freely. An example of which can be this blog. This is my media studies blog, which is going to be a place where I can share my thoughts, opinions, and experiences with the world. This is also my way to document my journey throughout my media studies project as a personal website which will be used as a platform for me to express myself in writing. I want to portray my personality through this blog as accurately as I can, by customizing the theme, design, layout, and ideas presented to be aesthetically pleasing, in such a way that will go hand in hand with my character .

FINAL FILM: 'INCARNATE'

CREATIVE CRITICAL REFLECTION: INCARNATE

Image
Q1) How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? A1)Our film is a work of fiction, and doesn't essentially Target a social issue, but when it comes to depiction our film illustrates our idea on a very symbolic level. When I say symbolism, I mean how our film has provided slight hints to the viewers about the doppleganger itself, and is an abstract idea without a concrete explanation, which leaves it open to free thought and the viewer's creativity. When speaking about dopplegangers, it can mean a lot of things, such as split personality disorder symbolism where the charecter is same, but goes through a change in personality, as well as a fictional storyline where the doppleganger and protagonist are two different characters. Really it depends on what the viewer interprets when watching the film, and in my opinion that is the beauty of it, leaving the film at a cliffhanger keeps the idea open and possibilities endless. INCARNATE: moodboard analysis

Image
The moodboard design for our groups final film (incarnate): As seen above, our predominant goal was to be able to convey through our moodboard a horror genre effect, with an eerie aura and dark theme. Our colour palette consisted of primarily red tones and shades as the main setting for our film had a red backdrop aswell. Another thing that is seen in the moodboard is a wine glass, which was an item we used for a short in our film, and goes well with our colour scheme. The photo with the reflection and the splitting face show a split personality, or a copy which directly associates with the theme that we wanted to portray, which was the theme of a doppleganger. A doppleganger is a clone or a copy of a person, who is in many depictions shown to be a supernatural and evil version or an alter ego of a person. Another thing that is shown is a bloody knife, which can signify evil too, as it is a weapon covered in blood which was used to murder someone.

CASTING: Auditions for our film

Image
Our final film was quite the solo act, as it was almost entirely dependent on one person as the cast, our main protagonist from our group: Piya varjani. We didn't have much in the form of an audition, but in order to be sure that she is eligible to cast in the film, is was essential to see a sample of her skills at the ver least. Here is the sample audition clip we used to decide whether it not she is eligible to play our main protagonist: For the role of the friend who was on videocall with the main protagonist, the person who volunteered after searching for someone who will be ready to play the role for days, was Ms. Shreya Mahajan. Thankfully after her help and everyone's efforts we were finally able to finish our final film, and it was very smooth since she played her role perfectly.

FILM POSTER DESIGN

Image
As mentioned in my earlier blogs, I am a keen artist and graphic designer, and I want to be able to use the design skills of mine as much as I can in media to be able to further improve. Here is the poster design I made for my final film INCARNATE: The app I used to make this was PicsArt. The process for taking the poster design was relatively easy, I took a part from the end of the movie right before the cut, which I thought was ideal for the poster. I the went to PicsArt, and used the selection tool to select one half of the photo and used a blur effect followed by b&w effect. After that, I used the disintegration effect on one half to create the triangular particle effect, and then edited the photo. I increased saturation by 5%,contrast by 5%, sharpness by 20% and vignette by -80%. And finally I added the font and saved the photo.
